Didcot Valkyries kick off the new season with a new sponsor, HCB Group
Ladies rugby has come to Didcot in the form of the Didcot Valkyries, part of the newly formed ladies & girls’ section of Didcot Rugby Club. Based at Boundary Park on Great Western Park, the Valkyries began training together over the summer and have now played their first two games together.
A new team requires a new kit and the Valkyries were delighted when HCB Group offered to be one of their sponsors. HCB Group Head of Clinical Services & Valkyries player Chrissy Clark comments “I am delighted to being playing for the Valkyries ladies team. Having had to travel further afield previously, it is fantastic to be playing locally and is a great step for Didcot residents.”
“Ladies Rugby is a huge growth area for the RFU, driven by the success of the Red Roses and the TV coverage they now command” commented Didcot Rugby Club Chairman Paul Levell. “Didcot Rugby Club already have a successful Men’s, Minis & Juniors and Touch section but we were missing a Ladies section. When a group of ladies came to us and asked if we could help them play rugby we were delighted to get involved. To have local businesses support this cause is fantastic and we are very grateful to HCB Group for their support”
The Valkyries train at Boundary Park on a Monday and Wednesday evening and new players are welcomed. Find them on social media or look at www.didcotrufc.com for more information.
